Annual Community Music Festival Celebrates Record-Breaking Support for Local Youth Music Programs

PLUM ISLAND, MA – March 18, 2026 – PlumFest, the non-profit community music festival held annually on Plum Island, is thrilled to announce a milestone donation of $15,000 to its primary beneficiary, the Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley (BGCLMV).

This contribution reflects a banner year for PlumFest and solidifies a multi-year partnership dedicated to enriching the lives of local youth through the power of music. While PlumFest is supporting five local non-profit organizations this year, BGCLMV is the primary recipient of the festival’s fundraising efforts, receiving the majority of the total funds raised.

Empowering Local Youth Through Music

The donation directly funds vital creative resources at the Club, ensuring that the next generation of local musicians has the tools they need to succeed.

“Thanks to the generosity of the Plumfest Committee and its amazing donors, our Boys & Girls Club is able to provide free drum and guitar lessons, along with fun and engaging music activities that teach beats and rhythm all year long,” said Jim Keenan, Executive Director of BGCLMV. “Your support helps our members discover their love of music and gives them opportunities they may not otherwise have, and for that, we are truly grateful.”

A Shared Vision for Community and Creativity

PlumFest was founded on the belief that live music can be a catalyst for community connection, the celebration of live music and philanthropic impact. By turning the porches and streets of Plum Island into a massive, island-wide stage, the festival creates an accessible, fun experience that translates directly into support for organizations that form the backbone of the Lower Merrimack Valley.

“PlumFest has always been a steadfast supporter of the vital role the Boys & Girls Club plays for the youth in our community,” said Shannon Kinney, President of PlumFest. “We are deeply inspired by and grateful for the community, support, and resources they offer local youth and families. Their music room and year-round programming sparks creativity and a sense of belonging. It is an honor to witness the direct impact our festival has on these talented young people and to be a partner in their creative growth.”
