Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley is a private non-profit agency serving elders and disabled adults who reside in Northeast Massachusetts. Our mission is to support an individual’s desire to make their own decisions, secure their independence, and remain living in the community safely.

The Music & Memory program at Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, Inc. is a unique program that allows those with dementia to remain in their homes longer. The use of music has been proven to reduce the need for antipsychotics/psychotropics drugs and symptoms related to dementia.

Your Donations will help provide residents with dementia in the Merrimack Valley with an iPod, headphones, music specifically tailored to each individual, and training for their caregivers.

PlumFest will be helping to kickstart The Boys and Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley's "MusicMakers" program (to begin this summer), a new venture of the club that will nurture the musical development of its members throughout the region by:

  • Providing experienced music and youth development professionals to offer intuitive and non-judgmental basic instruction in guitar, piano and drums.

  • Providing musical instruments such as guitars, keyboards, piano and drums for member use for activities and jam sessions.

  • Providing a range of activities for all age groups and abilities, including learning how to play various instruments.

  • Providing a dedicated space in which participants feel comfortable practicing on instruments, singing and performing before audiences.

  • Inviting participants to play music at Club events such as talent shows, fundraisers, holiday parties and board meetings.

We are thrilled to be part of this ambitious effort that is so "in tune' with our musical hearts!
